Home Farm Park is an Art Deco housing estate in Drumcondra. With its big windows and render bands, it was the height of modernism when it was built in the 1930s. Any addition had to complement and restore the existing fabric, while modernising and creating usable modern spaces.
A large rear extension, triple aspect, sits comfortably in the rear wedge garden. Wall to wall glazing brings the garden right in, while polished concrete floors complete a modern addition to the traditional house. Two large roof lights are flush to the new rear wall and reflect sun rays over the house. First floor a new master en suite is double aspect stretching front to back.
The front side addition is modern and was carefully detailed to sit seamlessly with the existing house; the whole was newly wrapped and colour rendered, maintaining the existing feature bands. The blue brick from the rear has been used to the front in a large planter that brings brick back into the front elevation, while creating a planted privacy screen to the front sitting room.
