The client had a conservation background and any works had to sit harmoniously with the existing house. They had an idea of a layout where the kitchen sat in the existing annex and a sunny dining room was in the garden. This idea was tested, drawn up and designed to ensure it would work especially in terms of storage and and circulation.

The kitchen flanks the walls of the existing annex with a wall of tall presses, appliances on one side and kitchen counter to existing opes on the window side.

The simple garden room created a courtyard entry from the side passage where old and new meet, and where views of both could be appreciated.

Flush to ceiling supports, extra tall glazing and harmonious materials sit the addition seamlessly within it's victorian context.
